Status of the REC Program

Our former REC Director has transitioned to our Travel Program. We have an open position on our board of directors for a new REC Director. In the interim, EWSC is partnering with the Connecticut Football Club (CFC) to supply coaches and training for our U6, U7, and U8 players.

We need a REC Director, and optionally, Assistant REC Directors to join our Board of Directors and oversee the REC program. No experience necessary; our Board members and coaches will help you. We need coaches to teach basic skills during practices and to coach small-sided games on weekends. You as REC Director, have the option to hire professional coaches to help you run your practices and to teach your coaches. Then the coaches can supervise recreational coed games on the weekend.

Our REC program has traditionally been a coed program for boys and girls ages 5 - 7. Players in that age group can only absorb the most basic concepts, and therefore it is easy to coach them by using fun training activities. Give them a few basic skills and just let them play and have fun. You won't be overwhelmed if you can commit the time required. You will meet kids and parents from East Windsor and perhaps make new friends.

Duties of the REC Director(s) include:

Recruit and support your coaches. You can also be a coach if you so choose.
Plan the season schedule.
Form teams.
Coordinate with the Club President to ensure fields are lined and ready.
Coordinate with the Equipment Director to get balls, uniforms, cones, first aid kits, etc.
Coordinate with our Referee Assignor to ensure we have refs at games.
Announce weather cancellations.
Help organize a post-season party.
